What lenses for my D700?
Hi there
I’ve done a fair amount of research, but too much information has proved a bit detrimental. I am a uni student so I dont have a big budget – but I also don’t want a rubbish lens (for example, the AF-s Nikkor 55-200 DX proved to be pretty naff with my D60). I already have a micro-nikkor 55mm, but I would like a lens with autofocus. I mostly do portrait/fashion work. Would love to hear some suggestions 
ps. when I say I dont have a big budget – I mean I cant go over £300! I dont mind buying second hand tho.
The best focal length for shooting portraits would be either the 85 mm or 105 mm lenses.
Full frame cameras shooters use the 70-200 mm f/2.8 as a compromise so they can cover more than just portraits.

Teleconverter for Nikon D40X?
I have a Nikon D40X with a Nikkor AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200 f/3.-5.6G IF-ED lens. How would I benefit from, and how would I use a teleconverter? Which one?
My subject matter is usually birds.

There are pro’s and cons to teleconverters, but they are mainly made to be used with fixed focus lenses, see a obvious plus would be that you could have a 400mm lens for the price of a converter and a 200mm lens, the downside is that depending of the magnification of the teleconverter you lose certain stops of light, you lose 1 stop for a 1.4x and 2 stops for a 2x which would mean your f/3.5-5.6 would turn into a f/5.6-8 with a 1.4x and a with a 2x would turn into a f/8-11 that a major light loss, that would make your autofocus inoperable because most cameras need a minimum level of f/5.6 to be effective but even though you have a light loss you could technically just bump up your ISO and be fine. The main thing you should keep in mind is that the teleconverter you buy will have to be specific to your lens, they like fixed focus, and to be honest I don’t know if they make a converter for the lens you have, either way thats the ins and outs.

The best all around lens in your group, I agree, is the 18-200. It replaces your 18-55 and the
55-200.

Nikon Launches South India’s First Exclusive D-SLR Zone
Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of the imaging industry leader – Nikon Corporation launched an exclusive Nikon professional D-SLR camera zone for the consumers at Foto Best Pvt. Ltd, 111/1, 112/1, Dickensen Road Bangalore, Karnataka. The store was inaugurated by Mr. Kimito Uemura General Manager Marketing Nikon Hong Kong in presence of Mr. Hidehiko Tanaka Managing Director Nikon India.

What is the main difference between 18-200mm VR & 70-300mm VR Nikkor lenses…??…?
Also i need a bit of an advise…
I am planning to buy a D7000 and i’m getting 18-105 VR lens with that …I have asked people and they say its not really much..Also i’m not really the kind who’d change his camera or lens very often…so i am thinking of not taking that lens and taking a 18-200mm or 70-300mm lens instead…Is it a good decision?? Please tell me which one to go for as an ‘allrounder kinda’ lens…

The best all round lens out of that lot would be the 18-200mm. I bought my D300 with that lens & its good enough for most stuff, until you get a need for more specialist lenses.
The 70-300mm is going to be a bit restricted in tight spaces as the minimum focal length of 70mm will mean you’d have to back up a fair bit to get everything in & you may not be able to. I certainly wouldn’t class it as an ‘all rounder’ lens.
The 18-200mm will go from wide angle to telephoto, the 70-300mm is midrange to telelephoto.

Will old Nikon Nikkor Lenses autofocus on a D50, D70s and D80 body? ?
I have some lenses – 28mm AI, 50mm 1.8, 105mm 2.5 AIS. Will they work on the said cameras?
No autofocus (they are manual focus lenses so no camera on Earth can autofocus them) and no automatic light metering on a D50, D70s or D80.
Consider upgrading your camera choice to a D200, D300 or D700 or the D2 and D3 series of cameras which can meter with these older lenses by entering their specs into the camera through the on-screen menus.

Is the quantum accurist pt any good?
I saw this, the one with the flippin switch that has 5 pt bearings, with the maxcast skeletal spool, and the acs II cast control. I am looking for a reel that can be very versatile, and i have a pretty limited prince range. I would need this reel to handle very different things, from soft plastics to spinnerbaits and jigs, literally everything. can it do that for me, or is it a very specialized reel only for flipping and pitching? i have a very nice abu garcia ambassdeur i use for crankbaiting, but i dont normally take it to the local pond with me where i fish from the shore. So i would use this reel there and also when im fishing off the boat. i literally will need it to handle everything. other reels i have been looking at are the bass pro shops megacast and the megacast tourney special. I can get this accurist pt for for only 50 bucks brand new, and the list price is 130. should i go for it or will this not be what im looking for?
I never was a fan of Zebco products , but to each his own I suppose.
I have a Daiwa US80XA on a Berkley Lightning 5 1/2 foot rod that I use for just about everything from crankbaits , spinners , plastic worms , jigs and a variety of top water lures. Shimano also makes decent reels.

I want to buy a 55-200mm and the non-VR lense is much cheaper. Is it worth it?
Yes VR can be a big help. It will let you shoot at a slower shutterspeed handheld than you could otherwise do. It also will eliminate some of the lens shake that can be a problem when zoomed out. I think if you do not spend the extra for VR you may wish you had down the road.
