12 Days Trip in Japan – Advice Needed?

Anyone can give me some advices for my tentative itinerary in Japan.

Day 1 From Malaysia to Osaka Airport
Day 2 Osaka
Day 3 Nara
Day 4 Kyoto
Day 5 Kyoto
Day 6 Osaka to Tokyo
Day 7 Kobe
Day 8 Tokyo
Day 9 Mt Fuji
Day 10 Nikko
Day 11 Tokyo
Day 12 Narita Airport to Malaysia

are you planning on changing hotels at each stop?
if you are don’t. osaka is central for kyoto, nara and kobe.
book your hotel in osaka for 6 days or whatever and get a kansai thru train pass which will give you unlimited travel on most trains and buses in the kansai area. look here

http://www.surutto.com/conts/ticket/3dayeng/

kobe is about 35 mins from osaka ,kyoto about 45 mins and nara about 50 mins so it isn’t really worth checking in and out of hotels and carrying your bags around for half the day waiting to check in to the next hotel.
on the way to tokyo you can stop at hakone and view fuji san, maybe take an onsen etc but no need to go to tokyo and then go back.
only 2 days for tokyo is pretty tight, why not skip nikko or kobe?

Richard Bellord in Japan

Richard Bellord is a world traveler and photographer and posts his stories and photos of his trips. Here is his trip to Japan. It was his first day in Kyoto after coming from Aizu, Just before the tourism office closed Bellord and his group stopped at the Kyoto Tourist Information Center and picked up some maps. They also hired a goodwill guide that is usually a young Political Science student from the University. Bellord thought the young man was a good guide as he showed them many great sites.

He had been to Nikko before and knew there were many temples there to be seen but, he was quite excited when he saw a castle. It was the Nijo-jo castle that was built in 1603 to house Tokugawa Shogun Iemitsu. The castle had two moats and two sets of walls. When you enter the first wall you see colorful koy to walk over the moat. There, after the second wall you will the Palace where court was held.  .

The next morning Bellord was late to meet his friend for breakfast but they enjoyed breakfast and discussed the morning schedule. They decided it would not take more than forty minutes to get to the National Science museum.

They met in the lobby at 8:45 and made the trip to the science museum. The presentation that morning was on the museum and its collections. This museum is the equivalent of the Smithsonian. Then there was a shorter presentation about ways to collect bugs. In recent years museums that specialize in science notices that while children can catch bugs in nets adult have lost their memories on how to accomplish this. The presenter gave tips on how to attract bugs to nets and to traps which are designed to catch different types of insects.

After the presentation Bellord and his friend decided to go shopping. They went to Akihabara Electric Town a collection of shops that carry every imaginable electronic item. Every camera in the modern world as well as any portable music player can be found there. There are also booths that sell transistors, capacitors, diodes and anything you might need to build or repair anything electronic.

The shops state they are duty free which means that they can give you the necessary papers to make sure you will not have to pay a double tax as you hold a foreign passport. There is usually an international warranty on some items. As for price, they are usually at list but can sometimes be higher or lower.

With shopping over Bellord packed his bags and got ready for the farewell dinner. The dinner was a buffet enabling people to mingle. There were many different drinks and food. When the main party was over the group went to have a karaoke party. Karaoke originated in Japan however, their style of karaoke is different from ours. There you and your group will get a small room and no one can hear your singing other than the group you are with so you are not listened to by a group of strangers.
