Why won’t my r/c helicopter fly outside?
I recently bought a Syma Fairy Alertgree 609#
I can control it from 20+ feet away inside my house but when I go outside it wont work unless the remote is within 1/2 foot.
Does anyone know why this happens or how I can fix it?
You have an indoor heli.
It is controlled with and infrared transmitter and receiver.
Inside, where there are walls for the infrared signal to bounce off of, the receiver can distinguish the signal from the background infrared noise.
Outside, without the walls, and with a much larger level of infrared background noise, the signal is swamped, and the heli becomes uncontrollable only a few feet away.
This problem is worse in direct sun, and less at night.
Besides signal problems, you will quickly notice that the very slightest breeze will exceed the capabilities of that heli.
Fly it inside and enjoy!

Wat does a balancer bar thats on top of a helicopter do?

The bar acts as a gyroscope. In simple terms it acts as a stabiliser system feeding directly into the rotor disc. Without it the rotor disc is much more unstable and difficult to control. If you look at early Bell helicopter designs you’ll see the same system.
