lol @ defthammer good one !!

You should make a tiny admiral to go water skiing behind it.

I’m late in reply, but you are mostly correct, SIERRAXR4ICOSIE. What is funny about his “Blue Devil” is the way he also whips it around the pond in tight circles like a speed boat; that is more unscale to me. But the Fletchers were fairly agile little craft.

I have bought this kit 3 times in my life. easy build if you dont mind it being way off scale, also the Fletcher class destroyer only had a single rudder if you build the Blue devil version.

The destroyer types or any battleship types belong to displacement hull type which has a special feature of rear end sinking when exceeding a speed/lenght ratio. Lenght of your toy destroyer must be short and hull round with no flat rear bottom end. So its rear sank.
The Lindberg hull is 36″ long with flat bottom and flat rear end. So it is a good boat to begin with. Keep weight of the boat to the Mid-front portion of the boat and keeping the rear end light.

Thats cool… Im just gettin into this hobby and love the warships… How does this model perform? I currently have a smasher, (toy) destroyer rc warship… the weight is off center probly because its a toy and the rear of the ship is constantly dipping into the water…

  7. kwokwing says:

It is a well known timeless model from Lindberg. I saw it first in the 60′s when I was a kid and could not afford to buy it. This model is off scale with today’s view point, but for sure it has often been a very good and cheap mass production plastic to have fun with and replace with.

Where can I get these type ships besides ebay…

  9. ultragui says:

Está muito rápido, parece uma lancha! Eu diminuí a velocidade do meu para se aproximar da escala.

  10. kwokwing says:

The boat only powers by 2 x 400 motors with Graupner 25mm propellers and 6 sub-c Ni-cad.The power plant indeed is very basic.

  11. rhodeislandrasta says:

sick i just got this model today, ppl are saying thats 2 fast, lust use less throttle, id rather be able to slow it down then not able to speed up.. nice job… wish me luck… any tips u noticed when building?

  12. OCTOOZZY says:

2 words…..gear reduction….. battery will last longer too

  13. planethaven says:

not exactly scale speed is it?!

  14. everetton07 says:

It produced quite scaled wave. Very good looking.

  15. kwokwing says:

I believe that the US Navy has been dreaming of building one with this speed and trying very hard.

it just looks stupid in that speed

  18. hafgnojdfbnkadjfnv says:

what engine u use? don’t look like you got speed control. how can a that small engine give the model a speed like that???

  20. HorstderBremser says:

The engine for this model is a little toooo big

  21. sierraxr4icosie says:

    also see mine

  22. sierraxr4icosie says:

ZHUANGCHE. did the fletcher class destroyers travel at 300mph? nooooo. thts about 300mph scale. looks like a fukin jet ski. both my fletcher classes (USS COGSWELL and USS CUSHING)travel nice slow scale speeds and im going to put them on youtube when i get the chance
