Do you think that the movie Spiderman 3 focused too much on the relationship between MJ and Peter?
I just watched Spidey 3 for the 2nd time. Some of the critics in the past had said that the show centered too much on the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane. I thought about this when I watched it. I think there definitely could have been more actions sequences and sequences with villains. It seems like Spiderman 2 had more of the plot and scenes involving Doc Oct than Spiderman 3 had with Sandman, New Goblin, and Venom. I do realize that according to the first movie its a story about a girl like every other story. (Don’t quote me on that but it seems like the first movie said something like that in the beginning.)
Extra Credit: Also, whether you say yes or no – is such an emphasis on the relationship between MJ and Peter/Spiderman consistent with the comic book? Compare the two.

i think focus on the relationship wasnt the problem, but the way it was handled was. it was very contrived and gwen stacy was crowbarred in just to create some tension. it was very poorly handled and nothing like the comics, which are better scripted (until recently. see the new story arc, one more day to see what i mean). i always enjoyed the stuff between parker and mj cos that was always the focus of his character, he is parker first and spidey second, and mj is what he cares about most. but not when it was deliberately done so that they are split up. as for the villains, they just had too many and it was clear raimi didnt care a jot about venom. having new goblin and either venom or sandman would have been good, but one villain should have been sacrificed. personally, i think it should have been sandman, not that he wasnt good but considering the story is about darkness then venom is just more thematically appropriate. either way, the film was enjoyable but it was just a mess
