to IRL IndyCar Series , the 2010 Indy 300, Kentucky was all about the number 200. It was the 200th race in IRL history. Drivers will run 200 laps around the 1.5 miles Kentucky Speedway. And speed is well over 200 mph in the car ran of 27 inches of each other under the lights of Kentucky. Among the 27 drivers was in second place last year, Ed Carpenter, who has not yet received a full-time driving, and Paul Tracy, the fan favorite, who never seems to be rusty. Perhaps we will have to start calling him a Platinum Paul.

Last week, the winner Dario Franchitti did things interesting in the race for the championship by closing the gap to points leader Will Power, who has not done as well as several others including Franchitti on ovals. Kentucky is oval, of course, and so are Motegi and Miami, the last two races of the season. Power would be able to get that monkey off your back? Did Franchitti to win and take the gap even further? Is the talented and lucky at the end of Ed Carpenter to head Victory Lane? Follow the jump to see how the 2010 Kentucky Indy 300 went down.

[Image: Chris Graythen, Streeter Lecka / Getty Images | Ed Reinke, James Crisp /] APQualifying was a series of lasts for two laps switching from a series of four laps to two medium last week in Chicago Hideki Mutoh of showing the time to Will Power hit the track. Team Penske driver was just about perfect all year round, and his running skills were more of the same. The next driver, but was not so fortunate. Ryan Hunter-Reay will be looked at fairly quickly, when his car, but loosely between 1 and 2 and rose to the wall in a split second. That run ended qualifying and caused a delay before the rest of the field was able to complete their runs.

When I rejoined the race, was next to the driver, Dan Wheldon, who is often in front of the oval. Again he was very fast but not fast enough to catch Power. With only five drivers left to qualify, at the end of Ed Carpenter, who nipped Peak Performance Power Pole. Carpenter was the best qualifying run as it once was 34 different Pole winner in IRL history.

Ryan Hunter-Reay has been approved to race on Saturday and the queue at the end of the field. After a two-seater demonstration conducted by Arie Luyendyk and football star, Terrell Owens, Grand Marshal Rick Mears waved a flag at the start of the race. He did not even make it around the end of the first lap before the hard charging Tony Kanaan took the air from the back of Takuma Sato, sending hard-luck rookie into the wall and the extraction of a full course yellow. Ryan Hunter-Reay, also in this case, yarn, his car lost downforce, when he had to get out of the throttle. Ryan did not make any contact and was able to continue after a pit stop to replace his home, he noticed the tires.

When I finally returned to racing, Dan Wheldon fell past Carpenter for the lead. Wheldon took the lead the first round of stops between laps from 1955 to 1960, when Will Power took command. Led to Lap 80, when a multi-car crash brought back yellow. It seemed, Simona de Silvestro tried to edge down to let faster traffic through, but I did not notice, Vitor Meira on the track below it. Also collected Ryan Briscoe Simon before the car slid back down, and slammed into the inner wall as well. It was okay, but it was another terrible moment in this already impressive rookie.

The five largest at this time was Power, Wheldon, Marco Andretti, Scott Dixon and Franchitti. Power had a little scare a few laps later due to a temporary end wiggle, which is hitting the wall and falling back you up five places in a split second. This gave Wheldon lead once again. Running has remained fairly consistent from top to another long block of laps in the second round of stops began around 140th Lap Although there have been many drastic changes in running order, does not mean that the race was boring in any way. In-car camera showed very close to the action, like the last race in Chicago.

It is difficult to explain how a regular camera shots make it look like cars circulating in a single package, incredible speed is completely lost in the process in the car but these photos show how hectic races, in fact, . Bumpy track and change the air flow as cars pass each other to make these darts Dallaras and dancing so much that cars are sometimes three feet apart, and then immediately touching the wheel. This same effect can be obtained from watching the Blue Angels flying in formation.

Ten laps to go, it Wheldon, Franchitti, Kanaan, Carpenter, Andretti, Dixon, Danica Patrick, Powrr, Castroneves and Tracy in the top ten but looking more likely that they all have one stop to the time for splash-and-go. Time stops under yellow and that was the most field was reduced by four laps short on fuel. Certainly enough to go four, all of the leaders stopped with the exception of Helio Castroneves. Helio has been slightly shifted to the rest of the field and the driver who lost a tough decision earlier in the season is now on one hand to him. Helio had a win after Ed Carpenter, who once again a bridesmaid in Kentucky.

Dario took fourth place, but more importantly a few places before Will Power, so to lead championship is now down to just 17 points in the IRL heads to Japan in two weeks at the Indy Japan 300 Twin Ring Motegi. Join us then, and do not forget to see the full results and ranking below.
