might buy a HJC symax helmet

i thinking about getting one for my first bike. i dont plan on going on the highway and id like to keep it under 40 mph for a while. i say this because i hear this helmet has a sealing problem and with the visor and it also makes considerable wind noise, so i guess these things wont be a problem at low speeds. what i am concerned about is the safety of the flip face. how sturdy is the hinge and chin bar? is it good for a beginner? keep in mind im looking at the symax I, but if anyone suggests the II ill keep an eye out for one.

I recently bought a Symax II, and I love it. It’s very comfortable (at least for my head shape) and I don’t find wind noise to be an issue at any reasonable speeds, let’s say up to 80 or so keeping up with highway traffic here in Texas. If a helmet is DOT certified, there should not be any issues with the latching mechanism or with how strong the chin bar is. The helmet is not Snell certified, but then Snell has never set a certification for modular or flip up helmets.
