“Good” friend owes me $500, what should i say this time?
Reasonable Answers Please:
It’s rent money my supposed “friend” still hasn’t paid. We discussed this way back in January and both with little effort agreed that he owes me this amount. It was agreed. Being $500 dollars can still get you quite a lot in the states, at that time i was feeling pretty much assured that my friend would prioritize a lil’ bit. March comes around I was getting mighty hesitant because I was moving way overseas and still not a single dime from him. April comes around and I asked him to just go to my bank back home in the city and deposit the money that way. Again, he responded with compliance & assurance but this time he spun out some excuses. Such as him needing 5 grand before he goes to grad school at Uni. of Hawaii for getting a masters in intl. businnes. Anyway, I’ve currently been overseas since March. Last time I spoke to him was through that Email in April. It’s July now, what can i firmly yet as a friend truthfully say to him this time?
Whether or not he is your friend, he owes you the money. I would tell him that you have given him long enough to pay, and if he doesn’t pay up take him to small claims court. A lesson in this, as much as you love family and friends and you want to help them out, you 95% of the time get screwed over more by them. So keep your friendship and families from borrowing money, this way you can keep the friendship.
