Joining The Navy in 2010?
OK im 25 years old and ive been wanting to join the navy ever since i graduated high school but nervous parent didnt want me to so i went to college instead. Spent two years because i was bored. It just wast for me. Now on my own im thinking about joining. Ive read other peoples questions and answers but cant find anything that is suited for me. Let me explain im in a job that involves me doing door to door for sears and not making any money. I feel like this is the perfect time for me to join partly for some money but also for an experience like no other. Anyways, to get to my question after enlisting how long until u go into boot camp and when do u get some money out of it? I dont want it to seem like im just in it for the money because im not. I just have little to no funds at the moment. Anyways i want to use the navy to also help me pursue my career in some sort of engineering and to serve my country.
Once found fully qualified to enter the Navy, sitting down at MEPS with a Navy classifier, getting into a rating(job) for which you qualify and in which there is an opening, signing a contract and swear into the Navy DEP, for most ratings you can expect about a 6 month to a year wait before shipping off to RTC.
Your pay would start on the day(ship date) of final swear in into the active Navy and ship off to RTC.
The shipping to RTC is based mainly on the start date of the “A” school training for the rating for which you got a billet.
They want you to start the “A” school as close as possible to the date of completing boot camp.
