Will I notice a rise in performance and image quality if I sell my 70-300mm and buy the 55-200mm VR?
I’m contemplating selling my older Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm G lens in order to upgrade to the DX 55-200mm VR lens. If you have used both, or even if you haven’t do you think I will notice a jump in image quality? I know that the 70-300mm is known for slow focus and the 55-200mm has an AFS motor so that would be a plus…. I’m not sure the missing range would be an issue as I usually don’t get an un-blurred shot at full zoom anyway. What do you think?
The ‘G’ series lenses are not the best lenses that Nikon ever made. I can imagine you are getting blurry images at the far end. I don’t like zooms, but if you are going to get one then the 55-200mm VR is probably a decent choice. After 200mm I strongly contend that you use a prime.
