The SLR (Single Lens Reflex camera) is the option of professional photographers around the world for many good reasons. Better quality lens as well as the added flexibility to change lens when the situation calls for it are just a couple. The best SLR digital cameras make for some truly exceptional photographs.
While the pros have come to rely on SLR digital cameras as their first option in cameras, there’s no reason to suppose that beginner, or serious amateur photographers can’t benefit from the advantages of best SLR digital cameras. Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP & 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens. One of the first SLR digital cameras to present at least basic video recording abilities. Picture quality is top rate. While the lens kit is a preferred of many, I can’t completely say it’s my first choice. The plastic mount feels a little inexpensive compared to the metal mount offered with the 70-300mm from Nikon.
On the plus side though, it does have the same ISO functionality as the D300, which really prices about $600 more. For under $1200, this is many cameras, but it wants to be handled with care since of the construction of the body. Given the cost of it though, I wait for a lot of people would do that anyway.
Canon EOS 50D 15.1MP & EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens
If you desire to sense like Joe-Super-Photographer, or possibly even Peter Parker, then this is the best SLR digital cameras for you. It’s some hundred dollars more than the D90, however not with no good reason. The 50D is truly a very adept camera that creates eye watering photographs at any ISO setting.
With very fast shutter times as well as next to no lag, you won’t miss a thing with this Canon. One point to make sure true taking pictures bliss is to pair the 50D up with a good lens. While the 28-135 is sufficient, the EF 24-105mm f4.0L is a much better choice. The more dollars will be forgotten about immediately you start to develop the luminous pictures produced by this very capable camera.
Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP & EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
While the Rebel XSi, is a substantially fewer expensive SLR then my prior two choices, I would be careless if I didn’t contain it in this discussion.

whats the difference between the Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens & Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens
Is it just the zoom power? Or is there a difference in image quality? Its for a Nikon D80 for regular everyday shooting. This is my first SLR camera. Which one should I invest in? Thanks
The 18-135mm is a very sharp lens, but it suffers from vignetting (darkening of corners) and chromatic aberration issues. The 18-200mm is a more powerful zoom, but amazingly, it doesn’t have the issues with vignetting and color aberration. It’s less sharp, but not in a way that makes the images unsharp. Sharpness is not everything with an image.
If you have to buy between these two lenses, go for the 18-200mm VR AF-S lens. You’ll be happier.
Also, check out this review of the 18-135mm lens; the reviewer basically says to get an 18-200mm. Key Quote:

Looked at the Photozone reviews from the other poster. This sentence from the 18-200 review stood out for me:
“While the lens didn’t totally convince under lab conditions the field performance was actually very decent when bypassing the critical aspects. Surprisingly the lens was quite resistant to flare showing only a few ghostings and a controllable loss of contrast.”
In other words, there’s bench testing and there’s the field. The lens in the field does pretty well, which matches Thom Hogan’s observations of the lens:
