I want get into long-range shooting. I can’t decide between a Remington 700 and Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic. ?
I want to compete in long-range shooting competitions, not sniping. I’ve dcided on the .308 Win. and I’m open to scope suggestions under $500. That said, is the NIKKO Sterling Platinum Nighteater any good? It’s a 10-50X60mm, the lowest price I found was $430.
IMO you can’t go wrong with a Remington 700, it is one of the most reliable guns on the market. As for optics I would go for a Leupold brand scope. I have a savage model 110 that I put a low end Leupold on and it made a world of difference. You should be able to find a decent one for under 500, mine is 3x9x40 and it was 220.
