Holiday to Tokyo?
Hello I am planning a trip to Tokyo Japan Next year 2009 and am planning to stay at the Hotel Nikko Tokyo. This hotel and flight inc is about £2600 $5200 this is not a problen cos i am going for a month. But i need help with spending money. I am not sure how much the yen is worth in japan i.e how much for a can of coke of a taxi or a three course meal. I am thinking about taking £2000 $4000 spending money. My sister went to Malaysia 8 years ago and between two they spent £300 $600 for three weeks. Does any one know how much i would need for a week or is £500 a week ok works out at 108,551.21 JPY hit back.
It really depends on how much you want to do while you are there. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years, and just to go out to dinner and have 2, maybe 3 drinks, for two people cost about 10,000 yen, or about 100 dollars U.S. (if I am remembering the exchange rate correctly). And that wasn’t even at a super nice restaurant, and it wasn’t in Tokyo either, where it would probably cost more. I suspect that you won’t want to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant EVERY night, so I’m guessing that your plans for how much money you might need would be about right, but it wouldn’t hurt to save up another 100,000 Yen though, just in case something comes up or you find a Kimono or Samurai sword you can’t live without!
