Need a Brushless motor for a R/C boat?

Your eBay motor could certainly be put in a boat, and it would not need a gearbox, but there are a lot of questions still. Will the boat take the weight? You are going to need 50-100 amps from the battery for the two highest-revving versions – that’s going to be 300-500 grams of expensive lithium battery for about 5 minutes running. Then you are going to need very high quality bearings on both ends of the prop shaft to run at those sorts of speeds.
At your stage i would recommend getting some expert advice from your model shop. Yes, the bits might cost more, but the advice is priceless and you might save your boat catching fire.
