-The Mayflower – brought the Pilgrims to America
-The Lusitania was a British luxury ocean liner-she was torpedoed by the German submarine U-20 on 7 May 1915. The sinking turned public opinion in many countries against Germany.
-The Mary Celeste was a brigantine discovered in the Atlantic Ocean unmanned and under sail heading towards the Strait of Gibraltar in 1872. The fate of the crew is the subject of much speculation; theories range from alcoholic fumes to underwater earthquakes, along with a large number of fictional accounts. The Mary Celeste is often described as the archetypal ghost ship.
-HMS Beagle – Ship on which Charles Darwin travelled to the Galapagos Islands, where he first formulated his ideas of evolution.
-HMS Bellerophon, she became famous for transporting Napoleon to Saint Helena in 1815.
-USS Enterprise – first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier
-The Golden Hind – Francis Drake’s ship, used to circumnavigate the globe.
-The Santa María was the largest of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus in his first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492.
-HMS Victory – Lord Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar and the oldest warship still in commission
