Fiberglass tape vs. cloth for model boats?

I am building a small rc boat and I want to make a fiberglass hull for it. The boat is only 5” high, can I use fiberglass tape instead of the cloth?? How does the tape work?

The only difference is that the tape has sewn edges. Tape is nice for small repairs or projects where you can just cut the tape and lay it in there.
If you are making a rc boat, you will want to use fabric or get tape that is wide enough that you don’t have to overlap the pieces. You will have ridges where they overlap. This isn’t a big deal if the ridges are on the inside, but fabric would work better.
I have some 12″ wide 8oz cloth that I’m using on a big project. I’m not worried about where it overlaps and it is easier then trying to manage 50″-60″ wide fabric. So that might be an option for you, too.
You ARE making a mould, right?
