Why does Bedivere choose not to throw Excalibur into the lake for the 2nd time?
This is my english literature homework- which i have been staaring at the book for hours trying to find the answer in the story which has not worked.
This is the question i have to answer from reading the poem Morte d’ Arthur but i read it and im confused and cant find the answer.
The first time Bedivere does not throw Excalibur into the lake and lies to Arthur and then the 2nd time he chooses not to throw it and gives the same lie to him again but whats the real reason why?
I believe that Bedivere does throw the sword in the lake. It is returned to its maker, the lady of the lake. When he throws it in a hand appears from the lake to catch it. Arthur is dying at this stage.
