Flawed design

This toy overjoyed my 6- and 7-year olds. We took it to a local pond, where it moved slowly but was fun to control. Unfortunately, the hull penetration for the propeller allows water to enter the hull, and the boat starts to subside at the stern. It says to take it out and drain the water out periodically, which we did, and which would be fine except that after a few trips the boat stopped responding, of course about 20 ft away in the middle of the pond. We let it dry out for a few days, tried again and the same thing happened; this time there was no recovery.
The sad thing is that it looks like the design would be very easy to correct (by the mfr) but there’s no obvious remedy for the user.
fun but batteries die too fast

It is a fun toy, but takes way too many batteries that run out too quickly.
